NGN Meeting

NGN is an opportunity for Neuroscientists to cross paths, think science together, find peers, mentors and friends. This meeting comes at a time of great intellectual ferment in the field. New experimental and computational techniques, ideas, large national initiatives, and mom and pop Neuroscience shops are all pooling together a trove of knowledge that surpasses anything we have seen before in scale (and perhaps, inventiveness). The Indian Neuroscience community is a part of this wonderful global enterprise. Just that we don’t meet often enough. So here’s another reason.

Program Duration: October 13-15, 2017

Registration dates are over

We acknowledge the funding support provided by the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance for this meeting, to carry forward the agenda of the 7th Annual Fellows Meeting of India Alliance.

Program

Our program will take place over 3 days (Oct 13-15, 2017). It will include research talks, discussions and poster sessions over the first two days. On the final day, we will take our science outdoors – A trip to the Western Ghats. The central idea of NGN2017 is to bring together Neuroscientists working on various aspects of the brain at different spatial and temporal scales in order to address some of the emerging questions in the field, its implication to normal and pathological function and achieve a broader perspective on Neuroscience research in the country.

To keep things simple, sustainable, minimise time costs, and keep the focus on science, we ask participants to fund their own trip. We especially encourage participation from students and postdocs. Please contact us if you need an invitation letter so that you can use your contingency funds to attend NGN2017.

We also have a daycare on campus that will be happy to accommodate visiting neurotoddlers and neuropreteens. Feel free to bring your family along and turn NGN into a 'workation'. Also, bring a musical instrument/sense of humor along for open mike night.

Accommodation

We have blocked nearly 50 rooms in our guest house that can be booked for a fee. You may contact our guesthouse manager Charu (managergh@iiserpune.ac.in) with "booking for NGN Meeting" in the subject line.

Students and faculty at IISER have also offered to be a part of the 'adopt a neuroscientist (AAN)' program. Visiting students and faculty can share quarters via the AAN program in our hostel and faculty housing for free.
