Poly [ADP-ribose] polymerase 1
PARP1 mediates the poly ADP-ribosylation of histone H1 in context of DNA damage repair (PMID: 6693402). It is also implicated in many neuronal disorders in humans (PMID: 17084037). PARP1 is known to interact with macro domain of macro-H2A that leads to inhibition of PARP1 activity and silencing of inactive X chromosome (PMID: 17158748, PMID: 17322296). H4K16 acetylation marks inhibit the subsequent poly ADP-ribosylation by PARP1(PMID: 20525793). PARP1 also controls and contributes to the process of DNA damage repair by interacting with chromatin remodellers (PMID: 19661379). Recent reports demonstrate that PARP1 in association with BRG1 and HDAC significantly influences the process of cardiac development (PMID: 20596014).
