Histone lysine biotinylation
Biotinylation (bio) on lysine residues is catalysed by 'lysine biotinases'. These marks are generally abundant in repressed regions of the chromatin. A single biotin moiety contributes ~244 Dalton. Histone biotinylation is often enriched at heterochromatin and participates in gene silencing.
