H2BK120ub

H2B-K120 monoubiquitination is essential for subsequent H3-K4 and H3-K79 methylation and these modifications are marks for active gene transcription (PMID: 16307923). H2BK120ub1 stimulates elongation by RNA polymerase II through chromatin (PMID: 16713563). H2B specific ubiquitin ligase RNF20/hBRE1 which mediates H2BK120ub acts as a putative tumour suppressor through selective regulation of gene expression (PMID: 18832071). CDK9 is reported to regulate gene expression by controlling H2BK120ub1 mark at a global level (PMID: 19575011).
