IISER Pune encourages international students to apply for the IISER Pune PhD Programme, starting August 2021.
International students are recruited via two streams:
- Direct admission in IISER Pune
- Through the Ministry of Education-supported 'Study in India' Programme
Admission criteria are as listed below:
Eligibility: Only nationals of countries other than India can apply. At the time of admission, the applicants for the PhD programme must have completed a 4-year undergraduate degree or a Master’s degree from an institution located outside India, while applicants for integrated PhD programme must have a 3- or 4-year undergraduate degree from an institution located outside India.
Application Process: Applications are now invited for the session commencing from August 2021. Please apply by writing to us at international.phd@acads.iiserpune.ac.in with a cover letter, CV, research statement, scan of information pages of passport, transcripts and three letters of recommendation. Do indicate your nationality and describe your academic track record in your CV. In your cover letter, indicate the Department (Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Earth & Climate Science, Humanities and Scocial Sciences) of your interest along with names of specific research groups in IISER Pune that are close to your research interest.
The starting date to apply is May 20, 2021.
The last date for submitting applications is June 20, 2021
Selection: Selection will be based on pre-screening, followed by an interview process with multiple rounds. The process will be defined by individual departments and communicated to the applicants in advance. Where possible, interviews will be conducted by video conference.
Funding: Six International Ph.D. Fellowships, at par with IISER Fellowships, may be available. Tuition fee waiver may be given for meritorious students facing financial hardships.
