About CoESME
The Centre of Excellence in Science and Mathematics Education (CoESME) at IISER Pune has been set up as a part of the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching under the ambit of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
CoESME aims to strengthen science education in India by engaging with various stakeholders, in particular teachers of school & undergraduate level science and mathematics. The objective of this centre is to help impart pedagogy training to teachers as well as hands on science education to teachers and students from schools, colleges, universities and research institutes. Our focus is concept-based learning, with emphasis on pedagogical innovation by and for teachers. Since its inception in October 2015, CoESME has organised workshops and activities for various target groups towards this goal.

RBPT Resources for College Teachers
CoESME conducted a series of workshops across India for teachers of undergraduate science and mathematics courses, on Research-based Pedagogical Tools (RBPTs). One of the outcomes of the project was a set of resources created by selected participants of the workshops, for other teachers. We encourage you to browse through these resources and try out inquiry-based teaching in your own classroom using them.
We welcome any feedback and comments on these Resource Packages at coesme@iiserpune.ac.in
Programmes
CoESME's activities can be classified under the following broad areas (see CoESME Programmes for more details)
See our Past Activities and Upcoming Events for more details and CoESME Photo Gallery for glimpses of our various workshops, camps and training programmes.
Collaborations
To better tap and leverage available resources and expertise in the field, CoESME has followed the policy of collaborating with various organisations and funding agencies. We have implemented projects in collaboration with several government (RMSA, DBT, DST) as well as non-government (Newton-Bhabha Fund [British Council], ISEF, Vigyan Ashram, etc.) bodies.
In each case, we try to find the best pedagogical practices and disseminate them to the largest audience.
