Introduction: The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed as Ministry of Education in August 2020), Government of India. In 2012, IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. As a unique initiative in science education in India, IISER Pune aims to be a science university of the highest caliber devoted to both teaching and research in a totally integrated manner, with state-of-the-art research and high quality education, thus nurturing both curiosity and creativity.

Research and training at IISER Pune are conducted through these Departments: Biology, Chemistry, Data Science, Earth and Climate Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics. A new department of Science Education has been launched in 2021. Inter-disciplinary research is strongly encouraged and promoted. IISER Pune pursues front-ranking research not only at the institute campus but also in a network arrangement with other internationally reputed research institutions.
 

Academic Posts and Eligibility: The basic educational training required for all regular faculty positions at IISER Pune is a PhD with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree and the following additional criteria defined as bellow:

  • Assistant Professor Grade I: A PhD in a discipline relevant to research and education at IISER Pune, with a minimum of 3 years of Post-PhD experience in industrial/ research/ teaching and possessing high-quality research publications.
  • Associate Professor: A minimum of 6 years of Post-PhD experience in industrial/ research/ teaching of which at least 3 years of experience at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor Grade I with high-quality independent research publications and a consistent teaching record.
  • Professor: A minimum of 10 years of post-Ph.D. experience with at least 4 years’ experience at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs with an outstanding record of internationally recognized research publications and an excellent teaching record.
NOTE: Fresh Appointments at the level of Associate Professor and above shall be done on invitation basis as per Institute Norms under IISER statutes clause 16.1.
 
Pay and BenefitsSalary will be as per the pay structure given below with allowances as admissible to Central Government employees in Pune. In addition, faculty joining IISER Pune will be eligible for medical reimbursement as per the Central Government Health Scheme and New Pension Scheme applicable to the government employees joining on or after January 01, 2004.

Faculty members will also receive a professional development allowance of Rs. 3,00,000/- for a 3-year period for expenses towards participating in national/international conferences, membership fees of professional bodies, contingencies etc.
All government rules regarding reservation will be followed.
 
Rolling Advertisement: Candidates interested for regular faculty positions at IISER Pune are notified that due to the unavailability of the sanctioned positions, the application and recruitment processes of regular Faculty at IISER Pune are temporarily suspended till further notice. The online applications link has been taken down from the website and shall be made available to the candidates once the recruitment process resumes.
Candidates are advised to visit the Institute website regularly for any further updates. When the application process resumes, we will also announce on the website whether the existing applications have to be made again, afresh.
