Introduction: The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed as Ministry of Education in August 2020), Government of India. In 2012, it was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. As a unique initiative in science education in India, IISER aims to be a science university of the highest caliber devoted to both teaching and research in a totally integrated manner, with state-of-the-art research and high quality education, thus nurturing both curiosity and creativity.
Research and training at IISER Pune are conducted through seven Departments: Biology, Chemistry, Data Science, Earth and Climate Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Physics. Inter-disciplinary research is strongly encouraged and promoted. IISER Pune pursues front-ranking research not only at the institute campus but also in a network arrangement with other internationally reputed research institutions.

Rolling advertisement: IISER Pune invites applications for faculty positions from candidates possessing excellent academic records and research experience.
•    Assistant Professor: A Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to research and education at IISER Pune, with Post-Ph.D. research experience of minimum 3 years in relevant areas and high-quality research publications.
•    Associate Professor: A minimum of 3 years of experience at the level of Assistant Professor with high-quality independent research publications and a consistent teaching record.
•    Professor: A minimum of 4 years experience at the level of Associate Professor with an outstanding record of internationally recognized research publications and an excellent teaching record.

Benefits: Salary will be as per the pay structure given below with allowances as admissible to Central Government employees in Pune. In addition, faculty joining IISER Pune will be eligible for medical reimbursement as per the Central Government Health Scheme and New Pension Scheme applicable to the government employees joining on or after January 01, 2004.

Faculty members will also receive a professional development allowance of Rs. 3,00,000/- for a 3-year period for expenses towards participating in national/international conferences, membership fees of professional bodies, contingencies etc.

Priority research areas: Several Departments have indicated their priority areas for faculty recruitment, as shown below. Notwithstanding anything written below, truly outstanding applications can be considered in all relevant areas at IISER Pune.
•    Biology: Cellular Immunology, Electron Cryomicroscopy/Cryotomography, and Plant Biology.
•    Chemistry: Computational (Inorganic, Physical Organic and Mesoscale Modeling) and Experimental (Bio-inorganic, Natural Product Synthesis, Medicinal Chemistry, Charge/Spin Transport and Spectroscopy at Single Molecular Level) Chemistry.

•    Humanities and Social Sciences: Intellectual history, History of science, Anthropology, and Sociology. Candidates from post-graduate degrees in Management and related professional disciplines need not apply.
•    Mathematics: Statistics and Theoretical Computer Science
•    Physics: (this Department is hiring in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, Complex Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics and Statistical Physics, Hard and Soft Condensed Matter Physics, Gravity and High Energy Physics, Materials physics and Device physics.
