Abstract:

<p style="\\"text-align:" justify;\\"=""> Resent advances in coherent control techniques of solid state quantum systems like- quantum dots (QDs), spin defects in Diamond and 2D materials provides impetus for novel applications in quantum sensing, computation and communications. These solid state systems owing to their relative ease of integration with current technologies, offer an exciting possibility of a practical quantum network implementation. In this talk, I will discuss our research towards building network components such as quantum repeater nodes based on nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond and efficient single photon sources using QDs. In perticular, ultrafast coherent control and robust state preparation of a single exciton in a InGaAs/GaAs QD using cobination of picosecond electric and optical pulses will be presented [1,2]. For NV centers, after introducing their unique optical and spin properties, I will describe our ongoing attempts bringing spin-photon entanglement protocols together in conjunction with quantum memories and single shot spin read out to realize a practical quantum repeater. Finally, I will present results from optical studies of spin defect in 2D materials.
