Abstract:
Black holes are at the same time the simplest and most complicated objects in the universe. When black holes were first discovered as solutions to Einstein's equations over a hundred years ago they were widely regarded as mathematical artifacts that do not really exist. However, observations over the last few decades, but especially over the last few years, have made it clear that the universe is full of black holes. In this talk, we will get to know these still enigmatic objects a little better.
