Late-time universe: surprises, tension, and future prospects

ABSTRACT:
During the last few decades, the observation of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation, unravel many mysteries of the Universe. Future CMB experiments aim to probe the fundamental properties of the Universe and its evolution from the time after the big bang to the present day by measuring temperature and polarization anisotropies in the CMB sky. The next frontier of CMB research is the detection of primordial B-mode polarization signal as it is the most direct evidence of inflation.
I'll give a general view of how different events happening at the timeline of the Universe have unique imprints in CMB anisotropies. Shedding light on the current scenario of the late-time universe, I'll briefly talk about the tension that exists at present in the cosmological dataset. Afterward, I will describe the exciting science goals of future CMB experiments such as Simons Observatory, CMB S4, and others. They all aim to probe the new physics related to inflation, reionization, galaxy clusters, and large-scale structure formation. In the end, I’ll discuss future prospects and the major difficulties to achieve those goals.
