Abstract:
To-date, more than 4000 exoplanets, planets orbiting stars other than our Sun, have been discovered. These discoveries not only opened a new window to put our Solar system in context in comparison with other planetary systems, but also increased the prospects of finding life on other worlds. I will discuss the current status of the exoplanet field, summarizing the most important discoveries and potential climates of these planets. I will conclude with discussing the current and planned missions to find extraterrestrial life, and prospects of identifying such life through remote observations.
