The study of porous Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) is one of the most fashionable areas of materials chemistry. The Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks (ZIFs) are a particularly interesting sub-class of MOFs on account of their close structural relationship to aluminosilicate zeolites. I shall discuss our recent work on ZIFs, including novel synthetic routes, energetics, mechanical properties, their behavior under pressure and amorphization. I shall also describe some of our on-going work on dense frameworks, including their optical, electronic and magnetic properties.
