In physics, M-theory is a is a candidate theory of everything. It is a theory that no one seems to know much about and has been called a piece of 21st century science that accidentally landed in the twentieth century. There is another M-theory - the understanding of the Mind- which is a mysterious 22nd century science that seems to have dropped into our 21st century. In this talk, I will introduce some of the mysteries surrounding the mind, show why they are mysteries and then argue that we need to approach these mysteries from a combination of mathematics and metaphysics. To put it another way, we need a combination of the sciences and the humanities to make progress in understanding the mind.
