Abstract:
I would talk about two projects that we are pursuing in our laboratory using fruit flies as our model. We are figuring out how flies learn about and remember discrete nutrients like sugar, proteins and lipids. Do they have discrete/overlapping neuronal pathways to do so? <span style="\\"color:" rgb(0,="" 0,="" 0);="" font-family:="" tahoma,="" sans-serif;="" font-size:="" 14.16px;="" font-variant-numeric:="" normal;="" font-variant-east-asian:="" normal;\\"="">We are also exposing flies for days to high-fat diets to see how this alters dopaminergic neurons in the fly brain and associated naive and learned feeding behaviours.
