Prof. D. Balasubramaniam, LV Prasad Eye Institute
Professor D Balasubramanian joined LVPEI Prof Brien Holden Eye Research Centre after holding positions such as Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, and Professor and Dean, University of Hyderabad.

Prof Balasubramaniam will talk generally about the eye, its various parts and their function/loss of function with age and environmental insults and what we can do about them. Using a model of the human eye, he will explain its parts and talk about some recent advances which go to address some of the defects that creep in, affecting proper vision. These involve technologies-  physics-based, chemistry-based and electronics-based (such as adaptive eye glasses, the bionic eye, and a GPS-bearing contact lens etc).
