Although the theoretical proposition of BEC of bosonic particles was established around 1924, still it took almost seven decades to experimentally observe the atomic BEC only. Photon is a mass less bosonic particle. Therefore, it is to obvious ask - Do photons undergo BEC? What are the experimental challenges to observe the BEC of mass less photons? A recent work showed how photon BEC is experimentally realizable by confining photons inside a dye filled microcavity. We will discuss the critical issues of light-matter interactions in observing photon BEC in a pedagogical fashion.
