Important role of phosphoinositides in cell signaling is well established since the demonstration in 1980’s by Berridge’s and Nishizuka’s groups that IP3 and diacylglycerol play a role in intracellular mobilization and protein kinase C activation. In this presentation, I will share our work on the enzyme cyclic inositol phosphohydrolase (about which much less in known, but may have some important clinical significance) that specifically cleaves cyclic inositol monophosphate and was erroneously identified by Majerus’s group as annexin III, as well as our more recent work on the role of IP3-kinase B in cell migration.
