Following the first talk in which I focused on colloidal quantum dots and their potential use in solar energy conversion and nanomedicine, in this talk I will focus on epitaxial semiconductor quantum dots that underpin on-chip photonics. In particular I will focus on the challenge of realizing ordered arrays of spectrally uniform single quantum dot based on-demand single photon emitters at the core of nanophotonic systems aimed at quantum information processing. Time permitting I will address an approach to on-chip integration of such emitter arrays with passive optical elements such as waveguide, lens, and beam splitter made of dielectric metamaterials.
