Janice Reid
Wildlife Biologist, US Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Research Station

About the speaker:

Janice Reid has been the project director for the Tyee Density Study Area for the past 26 years. Her study focuses on the demographics of the northern spotted owl in Oregon, USA. The northern spotted owl is an indicator of the health of the older forest ecosystem. The research on the northern spotted owl is important for public and private agencies and individuals interested in wood fiber extraction. Janice is interested in using technology to improve and enhance the data
collection process of her current research. She is also interested in the effects of forest management activities on spotted owl site occupancy, survival and reproduction especially in regards to thinning activities in close proximity to spotted owl nesting sites.
