L-functions via the Langlands-Shahidi method

Mon, Jan 23, 2017,   04:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Madhava Hall

Prof. Luis Lomeli
Pontificia Universidad Catolica De Valparaiso

We study automorphic L-functions via the Langlands-Shahidi method over a global field, and in particular, present the new case of a global function field. The local theory is possible thanks to the Langlands-Shahidi local coefficient, which requires an inductive argument in order to produce individual L-functions and gamma factors. The global theory connects to the theory of Eisenstein series, available over a global field through work of Langlands, Harder and Morris.
