Actin in axons: contributions to dynamics and mechanics

The talk will cover two ongoing experiments that reveal unexpected roles played by f-actin in axons. The first part will discuss dynamics f-actin in artificially pulled membrane nano-tubes which leads to myosin-II free contractility. The second part will cover mechanical perturbation experiments that show f-actin to be the main resistive component to mechanical stretch in axons.
