I would like to describe in this seminar, some of the recent questions and issues in thinking about open quantum field theory. While the notion of open quantum systems (i.e., quantum systems in contact with an environment) is itself old, many of the existing studies deal with quantum mechanical systems rather than quantum fieldtheories. In this talk, I will begin with a review of open quantum systems and the particular tools/methods currently available to deal with open quantum field theories(Open QFT) in particular. I will then discuss the interesting problems and issues that open QFTs give rise to, including the emergence of Lindblad equation and its renormalisation.
