The Sun Was White, The Moon Disobedient - A Musical on Conspiracies in Kathmandu, written and composed by Dr. John Mathew.
An idea conceived by Gaurav Isola, Sea Minor has continued to grow over the years and bring together various clubs and art forms. With this musical, we take this effort forward, and hope to present something novel.
Abstract: Scarcely three months before the massacre of the Nepalese royal family, Manjushree Roy has been chosen for the post of Commerce Counsellor to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. Upon her arrival, she meets with a close confidante of the royal family, Hariraj Thapa, who has reason to believe that Manjushree may not be as guileless as others would believe. In private, through a peculiar turn of events, she is acquainted with the ghost of Brian Houghton Hodgson, British Resident in Nepal from more than a century earlier. As the political situation in Nepal becomes increasingly tense, Manjushree, a neophyte in the world of diplomacy and trapped in a dance of happenings decades apart, must figure out how her role in a cat-and-mouse game of increasingly high stakes needs to be played.
