ABSTRACT
B Tech, MTech or Ph.D. theses (in Experimental Sciences and Engineering) ought to address 'difficult problems' and offer 'new/novel' solutions to the same. The measurements must be repeatable so that controlled experiments give clear results that support a new/novel prediction based on your new/proposed model/analysis. This lecture gives an overview of a tandem of 2 techniques called "TRIZ - Innovative Problem Solving" and "Taguchi Method" to QUICKLY get "novel results to difficult problems". These 2 techniques are,
(1) TRIZ Innovation: to define the "RIGHT problem" and propose several innovative solution concepts
(2) TAGUCHI Method: to experimentally optimize a solution concept, by planning experiments on "existing" experimental-setup/measurement-system to get "QUICK" world-class publishable results. Taguchi Method is equally applicable for planning of simulations based research
