An important approach towards getting information about the distribution of the prime numbers involves the study of zeros of L-functions. Partial sums of an L-function are defined as truncations of the associated Dirichlet series. They are known to give good approximations to the L-function and are easier to work with for purpose of estimation. This makes them an important object of study.
We report on some results regarding the distribution of zeros of partial sums of a certain class of L-functions. This involves obtaining Halasz-type mean value estimates for suitable multiplicative functions. This is recent joint work with Arindam Roy.
