Abstract : Through my recent work I will describe two possible reactions to the absence of new physics at the LHC. In the first part of my talk I consider the possibility that new physics might be just beyond LHC reach and the use of effective field theory techniques to interpret indirect deviations from SM rates. In particular I will discuss which indirect effects are still unconstrained by previous experiments such as LEP and can be constrained best at LHC. In the second part of my talk I describe a more radical approach where it is assumed that new physics is at a much higher scale. I discuss relaxion models which can accommodate a light Higgs withe a high scale for new physics. I describe how the relaxion potential is highly non -generic and how the clockwork construction can be used to generate such a potential. Finally I will discuss some of my recent work where we use the relaxion mechanism to provide a unified solution to all SM hierarchies namely the Higgs mass hierarchy problem, the SM flavour puzzle and the strong CP problem.
