Dr. Anurekha Chari-Wagh
Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune

Abstract

The journey of a sociologist can be mapped in the way she engages with the ideas that come her way. In the present talk the focus would be to highlight the research engaged by the researcher in her journey as a sociologist.  Starting with analysing state, gendered development and poverty alleviation programmes, the focus at present is on critically examining land rights for women. The issues engaged by the researcher has revolved around gender, inequality, citizenship rights, social exclusion and justice. In this context exploring questions of science and technology is interesting as the talk will explore how we interrelate gender, citizenship rights and science.

The talk based on reflections by the researcher will address issues of disciplinary boundaries, the interrelation of inequality and science and the journeys mapped by sociologists to engage with issues of social justice.
