*The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) is a collaboration between the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) that has generated comprehensive, multi-dimensional maps of the key genomic changes in 33 types of cancer. The TCGA dataset, comprising more than two petabytes of multi-omics data such as whole genome sequencing, copy number variation, transcriptome and methylome, has been made publicly available. This data goldmine has helped the global cancer research community to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. Many major cancer-related discoveries in the past decade have been referenced to the TCGA datasets.
**CTCR is a joint initiative between Prashanti Cancer Care Mission (PCCM), Pune and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune. This Centre has undertaken initiatives in cancer education, training and research to increase national capacity for translational cancer research in the Indian context.
