Modelling Mountain Glacier Dynamics
sponsored by SERB, Dept of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India
The course introduces theoretical and numerical tools of glacier dynamics with emphasis on hands-on application. It is targeted at glaciology PhD candidates and interested masters' students. A background in undergraduate level Physics, Calculus and knowledge of computer programming are the prerequisites.
In the first half, basics of Glaciology, Physics, Calculus, and Computation is covered. The second half consists of training on a hierarchy of glacier models, Elmer/Ice package, and project work.
