International Symposium on Cell Surface Macromolecules  Feb 17, 2020

IISER Pune is organising:

International Symposium on Cell Surface Macromolecules

(See Flyer)

Dates: February 17-20, 2020

Venue: IISER Pune

About the meeting: The cell surface is the playground for rich biological phenomena. These include signal transduction via chemical and mechanical stimuli, secretory and endocytic trafficking of proteins and lipids as well as cytoskeletal dynamics, all of which ultimately map to a 5 nm thin plasma membrane that contains diverse lipids. We now appreciate that the chemical diversity of lipids is critical to support a range of protein functions such as modulating receptor function, organizing membrane domains and altering trafficking and surface delivery of membrane proteins. Together, membrane effects have profound consequences to cell signaling and physiology in health and disease and there is an increasing need to understand cell surface from a 'living matter' perspective that signals into and out of the cell. This minisymposium aims to address aspects of this complex question, by gathering a multidisciplinary cast of speakers with expertise in physics, biology and molecular modelling.

Core organizers: Thomas Pucadyil and Durba Sengupta
