A Social Security Paradigm under the Government of India

Abstract: The government is committed to its target of increasing the inclusion of every household in the financial system so that the masses can get all the legitimate benefits arising out of the growth of the country and in turn, the funds mobilised from the people not earlier in the formal channel could also be brought in the formal channel thereby giving the economy of the country an extra thrust to lead the path of growth. The Government of India has initiated several measures to achieve greater financial inclusion. Few of them are Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Varishita Pension Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC). This talk will introduce various social security schemes implemented by the Govt with focus on schemes such as Stand Up India and Venture Capital Scheme wherein the Govt is encouraging youth, specifically the SC, ST & women entrepreneurs, to be the Job Providers instead of Job Seekers.
About the Speaker: Milind Kamble is an Indian entrepreneur notable for establishing Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) and working for Dalit entrepreneurs and businessmen. He is on the board of various government bodies including National Board of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises – Ministry of MSME GoI; Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs; IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Kashipur; Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University (BATU), Mahad; and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), Aurangabad. He is also an Officiating President of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) – Ahmedabad and Guest Faculty at the IAS Academy Masooriee (LBSNAA) for Mid Career Training of IAS. Mr. Kamble was conferred with Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour, in 2013 and with Samaj Bhushan Award of the Govt. of Maharashtra in 2015.
