Abstract: A number of multicellular living organisms, both plants and animals start their lives as a single cell – the fertilized egg. This cell divides repeatedly to give a large number of cells (4 trillion for a human being). As the cells are dividing the organism is also, in parallel, attaining its shape and size, a process called ‘pattern formation’. The process is the same for an ant, a mango tree and an elephant. In this talk, students will learn about the fundamental process that shape form and function in plants and animals, as studied by scientists who call themselves ‘Developmental Biologists’.
Age Group: Ideally Class 7 - 10. However, we welcome other students to attend.
Registration is FREE and on a first-come-first-serve basis
