Maths Club IISER Pune invites you all to:
Abel Prize Symposium
Abel Prize was instituted by the Government of Norway in 2001 in honor of Norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel.
Abel is known for many results in algebra, analysis and especially for his work on algebraic equations and elliptic functions.
Date: Friday, April 17, 2015
Time: 4.30 pm onwards
Venue: LHC 101
Schedule:
4.30 - 5.00 pm: Talk on Niels Henrik Abel by Ajith Nair.

5.30 - 6.00 pm: Talk on Jean-Pierre Serre by Prof A. Raghuram.
Louis Nirenberg and John F. Nash won the Abel prize this year for their striking and seminal contributions to the theory of nonlinear partial differential equations and its applications to geometric analysis.
Jean-Pierre Serre was the first winner of Abel Prize in 2003. He was awarded the prize for playing a key role in shaping the modern form of many parts of mathematics, including topology, algebraic geometry and number theory.
All are welcome to attend!
