Talk on Quantum GX2 microCT System for Invivo Imaging  Aug 20, 2019

IISER Pune is organising a seminar:

Quantum GX2 microCT System for Invivo Imaging

(See flyer)

Date: Tuesday, August 20, 2019

Time: 3:00 - 4:00 pm

Speaker: Dr. Sasha Alexandre Belenkov, Application Specialist- Perkin Elmer

Venue: Seminar room 34, Main Academic BuildingIISER Pune

Abstract: The use of micro-computed tomography (microCT) imaging for in vivo studies of small animals as models of human disease has risen tremendously due to the fact that MicroCT provides quantitative high-resolution 3D and 4D volumetric data non-destructively and longitudinally. The Quantum GX2 is a microCT instrument from PerkinElmer engineered to deliver high quality data at low X-ray dose and high resolution (down to 2.3 micron voxel). The talk will focus on how various applications of morphological and functional imaging with Quantum GX2 can be integrated into routine practice of a small imaging laboratory or imaging core facility. With a focus on the practical aspects of microCT imaging, the audience will be offered an easy to follow introduction to the technology and learn in context of cardiovascular, pulmonary, kidney, bone, metabolic, and oncologic disease how image acquisition with Quantum GX2 can be performed and interpreted.

About the Speaker: Dr. Alexandre Belenkov is an Applications Scientist at PerkinElmer, Life Sciences & Technology. He has been working in the field of preclinical imaging for more than 10 years with extensive experience in microCT and optical imaging technologies. In his current role he is responsible for the development and support of novel imaging applications and approaches. Prior to joining PerkinElmer, he worked for VisEn Medical, GE Healthcare and ART Advanced Research Technologies. He received his B.Sc. in Anatomy and Molecular Biology and Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
