IISER Pune will host:
Third Foundations of Biology Meeting
The idea for this series of meetings is for ~20 academics from different disciplines to get together and spend three days discussing and arguing about fundamental issues in evolutionary biology, as opposed to just hearing people talk about their work. The meeting is planned to involve a few short "seed" talks where the speakers highlight some of the current ideas and controversies in the field. These then serve as the starting points for discussions and arguments involving all the participants. These discussions are essentially the soul and the purpose of the meeting and occupy most of the time in each session.
The themes and speakers for this year are:
- Co-evolution (Speakers: Ullasa Kodandaramiah)
- Constructing evolutionary theory (Speakers: KP Mohanan and Milind Watve)
- Complexity in biology (Speakers: Ramray Bhat)
- Evolutionary psychology (Speakers: Mewa Singh and Garga Chatterjee)
Date: March 12-14, 2016
Venue: Seminar room 34, 2nd floor, Main Building, IISER Pune
