Abstract: Assessments, reserved mainly for evaluation and grades in a report card, is potentially a very important tool in the whole teaching-learning process. Assessments can be used not just for evaluation of learning, but also be integrated in the process for ‘learning’ itself. In this panel discussion, we will discuss the essentials of designing an effective assessment and the process of application of such assessment methods in various classrooms to make teaching & learning more enriching. Crucial topics of the purpose of assessment, designing assessments linked to learning objectives, and using rubrics to translate assessment into grades etc. will be discussed. Keeping the limitations of ongoing pandemic in mind, we will also share some useful online assessment tools.
