About the workshop:
Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India under its NMEICT mission, has entrusted IIT Kharagpur to host, coordinate and set-up National Digital Library (NDL) towards building a national asset. The objective of the project is to integrate all the existing digitized and digital contents across educational institutions of the nation to provide a single-window access with e-learning facility to different groups of users ranging from primary level to higher education level of our county. NDL will harvest and index contents from all the Institutional Digital Repositories (IDR) of institutions, universities and all other digital library initiatives so that all the e-contents can be searched and accessed by the users through a single window. Initial version of NDL can be viewed at https://ndl.iitkgp.ac.in

In view of the above, Library, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune in collaboration with NDL, IIT Kharagpur, is organizing two day ‘Workshop-cum-training programme on Institutional Digital Repository for National Digital Library’ during October 5-6, 2016. The workshop will include an advanced-level hands-on training for the development of IDRs in each institution so that e-contents of individual institution can be harvested and indexed by the NDL server. Heads of the Institutions are requested to kindly depute two persons - one from the Library (preferably Librarian) and another with Information Technology (IT) / Computer Science background who supports IT functions of the Library.

It may please be noted that there is no registration fee to participate in this workshop-cum-training programme and twin shared basis free accommodation shall be provided by IISER Pune to the out-station participants. Total number of seats is restricted to 60, which shall be filled on first come first serve basis from Maharashtra and a few from adjoining states.
