About: Communicating science in regional languages is very important. Though we learn to read, write and communicate in other languages since the time we go to school, our mind tends to translate the words we learn into our mother-tongue. Therefore, our understanding in the regional languages is often better than in other languages. Also, there are many around us who may not know languages other than their regional language. For them, it is important to communicate science in regional languages.

This workshop is being conducted by IISER Pune in collaboration with Marathi Vidnyan Parishad aims to address this need. It will train researchers to write science articles in Marathi for a better communication to Marathi readers.

Eligibility: M.Sc. / PhD students

Registration details:

Those who wish to register are requested to write in 200 words in Marathi as to why they want to attend this workshop and submit it to the Science Media Centre (sciencemediacentre@iiserpune.ac.in) by the 20th February, 2020.
There is no registration fee. Accommodation and food during the entire duration of the workshop will be provided. Traveling allowance is not included.

About Marathi Vidnyan Parishad (MVP): Marathi Vidnyan Parishad (Marathi Science Council) was established in 1966 in Mumbai with a mission to spread science through the Marathi language, to enrich Marathi language for the use of science, and to enhance scientific literacy among people. Today, there are seventy five chapters of MVP in Maharashtra and outside.
