Following the announcement of endowment to IISER Pune from Balan group in May last year, the two organizations have now signed a formal agreement towards for construction of a building for for a science activity centre at IISER Pune.

In a total of 60,000 sq ft of area, this building, “Smt. Indrani Balan Science Activity Centre", will house state-of-the-art, hands-on science activity centre for school and college students and teachers. The Centre will impart pedagogical training to teachers and will focus on taking science to underprivileged sections of the society.

IISER Pune has been in the forefront of science outreach over the last several years. Development of this space through the generous support from Mr. S. Balan will further boost its efforts in contributing to the education sector by reaching out to the teacher and student communities across India.
