Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has instituted a blended three-year Bachelors in Science course in collaboration with IISER Pune and University of Melbourne (UoM) since the last academic year.
Currently the BSc (Blended) course is being implemented at Modern College (Shivajinagar), Pune. The course aims to strengthen science education at the undergraduate level and will offer an internationally recognized degree. Students will be taught three basics sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and Mathematics in the first two years and can opt to specialize in their final year. The course at Modern College will offer specialization in Biology in the third year.
The curriculum will have clearly defined teaching and learning outcomes along with a transparent evaluation system. The quality assurance and evaluation procedures will be determined jointly by University of Melbourne and IISER Pune. The course will give students a comprehensive background in basic sciences and prepare them well for taking up higher studies in any discipline at reputed institutes in India, Australia and other countries.
