Dr S G Srivatsan, Associate Professor in Chemistry at IISER Pune, has been selected for the 2019 CDRI Awards for Excellence in Drug Research in the Chemical Sciences category. He has been selected for this award along with Dr T Govind Raju, Associate Professor, JNCASR, Bengaluru. 

Instituted by the CSIR's Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, these annual awards honor outstanding research work in drug research and are given in the categories of Chemical Sciences and Life Sciences. The Award Oration and Felicitation Ceremony for the 2019 awards will be held on September 26, 2019 during CSIR Foundation Day Celebrations.

This award recognises Dr Srivatsan's original contributions to the field of nucleic acid diagnosis and therapeutics. Towards this goal, the group develops and employs innovative probe design approaches and nucleic acid labeling technologies. The platforms developed by his group have provided greater insights into the structure and drug binding abilities of therapeutically important nucleic acid targets.
