In 2016, IISER Pune will complete ten years of existence. A wide range of activities are planned throughout the year to mark this milestone.
On February 19th, the celebrations of a decade of IISER Pune were launched in the presence of Honourable Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani as Chief Guest of the function. Mrs. Irani inaugurated a poster exhibition highlighting the main activities and programmes of the institute.
Director Prof. KN Ganesh gave the opening remarks, recounting the journey from the beginning of IISER Pune and also introduced the Chief Guest. In her speech, Mrs. Irani encouraged students to help other less fortunate youngsters, while reaching greater heights in their own careers. She expressed the hope that they would remember their alma mater fondly when they went out into the world after passing out of IISER Pune.
The Honourable Minister also launched a common website of all six IISERs. The site will give consolidated information related to IISERs to all stakeholders like students, parents, potential faculty members and collaborators as well as the MHRD. She also released a video clip about IISER Pune that captures the landmark events of the past ten years of the institute.
