CRSI Bronze Medal to Prof. Harinath Chakrapani  Jul 16, 2020

Prof. Harinath Chakrapani, Professor of Chemistry at IISER Pune, has won the Bronze Medal of Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI).

Prof. Harinath ChakrapaniCRSI is a is a premier professional chemical society of India established in 1999 with an aim to facilitate and promote research & education in all branches of chemistry. The Society organises symposia, events and seminars, and also give various awards, including gold, silver and bronze medals to recognise excellence in chemistry research each year.

Prof. Harinath Chakrapani is one of the recipients of the CRSI Bronze Medal for 2021. Prof. Chakrapani is an organic chemist working on drug discovery and nitric oxide prodrugs. His group designs, synthesises and evaluates organic compounds that can produce reactive species in a spatiotemporally controlled manner, and can be used as tools for biochemical and cell biological studies. Prof. Chakrapani is an Editorial Board Member of the journal Scientific Reports and is also the Dean of International Relations and Outreach (IRO) at IISER Pune.

Previous winners of the CRSI Bronze medal from IISER Pune include Prof. M. Jayakannan, Prof. Srinivas Hotha, Prof. V. G. Anand, Prof. S.G Srivatsan, Prof. Pinaki Talukdar, Dr. R. Vaidhyanathan.
