Dr Nixon Abraham awarded Pfizer Prize  Jan 30, 2017

Dr Nixon Abraham, faculty member at IISER Pune, has received the 2017 Pfizer Research Prize in a ceremony held on January 26, 2017 in Switzerland. He shares this Prize with Dr Olivier Gschwend (University of Geneva) and Prof Alan Carleton (University of Geneva) for their work in the area of neurosciences and disorders of the nervous system carried out at the University of Geneva.

This award-winning work on neuronal networks involved in the sense of smell has earlier been published in the journal Nature Neuroscience (18:1474-1482 (2015).

The Pfizer Research Prize, given to young scientists who have made outstanding and pioneering contributions in basic or clinical research, has been awarded annually since 1992 by the Pfizer Research Foundation. A prize amount of CHF 15000 and certificates are awarded for studies conducted in different fields - cardiovascular medicine, infectious diseases, basic and clinical neuroscience, oncology, urology, nephrology, rheumatology and immunology.
