IISER Pune is pleased to announce a generous endowment from Bajaj Auto Ltd. towards construction of a hostel for women research scholars at the institute. This facility would help IISER Pune take forward its commitment toward encouraging education of women and inducting them to research in a supportive environment. An MoU to this effect was signed today in the presence of Mr Rahul Bajaj (Chairman, Bajaj Group), Mr C.P. Tripathi (Advisor, Corporate Social Responsibility, Bajaj Auto), Prof K. N. Ganesh (Director, IISER Pune), and Prof R. A. Mashelkar (former Director General, CSIR).

The proposed hostel is planned as a 10-floor building with a total plinth area of ~ 20,000 sqmt that can accommodate up to 800 students.
IISER Pune is deeply committed to empowering women through science education and bridging the gender gap in higher education. Bajaj Auto has now joined hands in these efforts by financing the construction of an entire hostel building for women research students and scholars.
The proposed building is estimated to cost 50 crore rupees and is expected to be ready by 2019 and would provide a safe and comfortable residential accommodation, thereby enabling a higher enrolment of women students and researchers.
