IISER Pune becomes a member of the Association of Indian Universities  Feb 11, 2016

IISER Pune has recently been inducted into the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)*.

The Association is a forum for administrators and academicians of member universities to exchange views and discuss matters of common concern. It acts as a liaison to promote academic cooperation and information exchange in the sector of higher education. AIU membership includes traditional universities, open universities, professional universities, Institutes of National Importance and deemed universities. Some universities from neighbouring countries like Nepal, Mauritius, Malaysia and Bhutan are also members of the AIU.

IISER Pune is a research-intensive teaching institute, dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. The integrated five-year BS-MS course is the flagship academic programme of the IISERs. Through this and the PhD programmes, the institute provides high quality education alongside state-of-the-art research carried out by its faculty.

Along with its other counterparts in the country, IISER Pune was declared an institution of national importance by the Indian Parliament in 2012. The institute is currently on the cusp of its tenth year of existence. At this juncture, its membership of the AIU marks another milestone.

*membership to IISER Pune approved vide letter No. Meet/GC/337/2015/303531 dated 02 Feb 2016.
