IISER Pune Celebrates National Science Day 2019  Mar 04, 2019

National Science Day is celebrated in India every year on February 28, to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir. C. V. Raman. It is a day to inspire students to learn scientific ideas and to spread scientific temper in society.

On the occasion of National Science Day 2019, Smt. Indrani Balan Science Activity Centre at IISER Pune had organized an exhibition of various low-cost science models and demonstration of hands-on science activities which are helpful in understanding scientific concepts. About 2,500 people including students, teachers and science enthusiasts of various ages visited IISER Pune and the Activity Centre on Science Day. The models and activities demonstrated to the visitors were designed to align with students’ curriculum and can be directly implemented in classrooms by teachers. Visitors, especially students, thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on approach towards learning scientific concepts. The science toys, designed using easily available materials, brought back the joy of learning new concepts to both students and the general public. It was a delight to see happy faces of children awed by the wonders of science.
