IISER Pune to get New High Performance Computer  Mar 08, 2017

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune has been selected by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India, for support and installation of a 500 TeraFLOP High Performance Computer system.

The official statement regarding this was made today during the inaugural function of a conference of the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) currently taking place at the Sir CV Raman Auditorium in IISER Pune. Dr Debashis Dutta, Co-ordinator, MeitY and Dr Rajat Moona, Director, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) made the announcement.

C-DAC, located within the campus of University of Pune, will lead the assembly and installation of the system. The computer is estimated to cost about Rs 25 crore and is expected to be ready by September 2017. It comes at the right time, when IISER Pune faculty members are expanding their research base and will require more computing capacity.
