Inauguration of the Academic Complex  Jun 06, 2014

Since the unveiling of the foundation stone of IISER Pune campus by the Prime Minister of India on April 1, 2010, the campus construction has progressed at a brisk pace. Most of the research laboratories, lecture rooms, and student hostels are now functional at the new campus. The campus has already hosted several national and international conferences during the past few years.

More than 200 BS MS students have graduated from the institute during the previous 3 years, and over 90 BS MS and 12 PhD students will be graduating this year in the 3rd Convocation to be held on June 15, 2014. On this day, the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee will dedicate the academic and lecture hall complex to the nation and will be the Chief Guest at the convocation. The Governor of Maharashtra Shri K. Sankaranarayanan, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Prithviraj Chavan and the Union Minister (HRD) Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani will grace the occasion.

This is a significant moment in the short history of Pune and heralds the beginning of unabated growth of IISER Pune, to meet the high and challenging expectations of its establishment. On this day, the faculty, students and staff of IISER Pune resolve to strive hard and with sincerity to fulfill the aspirations of the stakeholders of the Institute and to make the Institute a place where “tomorrow’s science begins today”.
