Prof Ganesh and Dr Pavan Kumar get Nanoscience Prizes  Mar 03, 2016

Prof KN Ganesh (Director, IISER Pune) has been awarded the 2015 National Research Award in Nano Science and Technology by Nano Mission of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India.  The award, consisting of a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and a citation, is given every year in recognition of contributions to the field of nanoscience.
 
  Dr GV Pavan Kumar (Assistant Professor, IISER Pune) was presented with the Nano Young Researcher Award by the Malhotra WeiKFiELD Foundation. Dr Pavan Kumar and his group work on understanding how light interacts with nanostructures and molecules, utilising knowledge from optics, spectroscopy and material science. He received a cash prize of Rs. 51,000/- and a citation for his work on nanophotonics.

Both awards were presented at the hands of Prof CNR Rao during the International Conference on Nanoscience and Technology (ICONSAT 2016). ICONSAT is a series of international conferences held in India every two years to promote fundamental understanding and technological advancement in nanoscience. The ICONSAT-2016 was held in IISER-Pune from February 29 to March 2, 2016 and saw several distinguished researchers present their work.
